Game 2 Hutt River Dedication vs Puka Puka
Hutt River Dedication 6/107 def Puka Puka 8/104
PHR Dedication took on local team Puka Puka in the first of the day's 20/20 matches, with high hopes of continuing the promising form displayed on day one. After losing the toss and being sent into the field, the Hutt River attack started strongly with Jackson Brazzale and Phil Barker locking down the opposition whilst taking wickets at a steady rate. Jakob Sluiter and Brendan McCArthy then entered the attack, taking a couple of wickets each. Not content with his two wickets in two oveers, 'Ruthless' Sluiter requested the wicket keeper be brought up to the stumps and then proceeded to bowl a bouncer the following ball, removing several of his team-mates teeth. Despite the loss of blood and bone, Jarry Mills did not miss a ball and solidered on behind the stumps for the rest of the innings. In the field Haydn Falconer's Horse's Arse odds shortened with a couple of dropped catches.
The run chase started promisingly, with Brenden McArthy and Haydn Falconer getting solid starts. Joel McMahon and Adam Bourke helped push the total to 84. just 21 shy of the required total. Phil Barker, realising that there was not sufficient runs remaining for him to make a big score, decided to throw away his wicket instead. Fortunately some polished batting from Sluiter and Mills helped round out the innings for Dedication's second win of the tournament.
