Hutt River Dedication have taken out third place at Willowfest 2011, finishing on 3 wins from five games. Dedication only missed out on first place due to losing the bowl off after a tied Twenty20 game.

The sovereign's MDP award for the best performing player was won by Phil Barker. Barker batted superbly throughout the week, setting up several big scores for Dedication, as well as bowling some tight spells with the new ball.

For the 6th year in a row, Dedication had a representative in the Sunitafe XI - the all-star team from the Willowfest carnival. Jarryd Mills was selected as the wicketkeeper, having been judged the best performing wicketkeeper from across the entire tournament.

Hutt River Dedication will take place in a bowl off against Kangarilla tonight, to obtain a result from yesterday's tie. Both teams will select 5 bowlers, who will get one ball each at a set of stumps. The team that hits the stumps the most will take the points.

Should Hutt River win the bowl off, they will be on 3 wins for the tournament, putting them equal with tomorrow's opponent Ray White's Dirty Dozen, making the final game tomorrow a play off for first place.

Hutt River selectors today announced the final line up for the 2011 Willowfest tournament. After Dedication failed to bowl teams out despite taking early wickets in several games last year, the selectors have shown a clear desire to improve the team's spin bowling stocks. For this reason, 2009 MDP winner and leading wicket taker Chris Shaw will be making a comeback. He will be joined by a leg spinner in debutante Todd McCarthy. Perennial underperformer Phil Barker has also been given another chance by selectors.

                                            The 2011 Dedication squad is:
                                            • Geoff Pascoe
                                            • Tyler Hankinson

Dedication founding member Joel Thomas has announced his departure from the Dedication squad for 2011. Rumours are circulating that Thomas was asked to leave by teammates due to his lack of mental fortitude. With a hot summer coming up, and the possibility of extra drinks breaks, it is understood the players felt the team couldn't afford the automatic loss of a wicket every time drinks are taken.

The total weight of the Dedication squad will see a marked decrease in 2011 with the loss of Kale McBain. Whilst McBain's strike rate has always been good, selectors are understood to be looking for batsmen that can last more than 4 deliveries. Speculation is mounting about who will fill McBain's rather large shoes.

The 2010 MDP vote count was an extremely close affair, but in the end Jake Sluiter's consistency across the week got him over the line. Joel McMahon was once again selected in the Lencia XI for the best players from the tournament.

The Horse's Ass award was a shock for many, with an unexpected winner. Captain Geoffrey Pascoe won the award thanks to some loose bowling on day 4, coming from nowhere to upset odds on favourite Kyle Moore.
