Game 2: SRL St Columbs All Stars vs Hutt River Dedication
SRL St Columbs All Stars 76 def by Hutt River Dedication 2/78
Hutt River were forced to make a late change to the squad for game two, with injury forcing Chris Shaw out. Ash Spencer got the call up, and made a good case for his permanent inclusion in the team. A tight spell of bowling from Spencer, along with a couple of wickets to Phil Barker and an effective closing spell from Jake Sluiter saw St Coulumbs all out for 76. The fielding performance was very tight, with only one dropped catch (by Kyle Moore) and just two misfields. Jarryd Mills continued on his quest to get kicked off the team, missing a simple stumping off the bowling of Geoff Pascoe.
The run chase started in the best possible manner, with Adam Burke making 24 to get the team off to a flyer. Ash Spencer came in at first drop, and showed great form, hitting the opposition attack to all corners of the park, despite having just one shot. Tension was high when Spencer was dismissed, and Phil Barker was forced to bat with his arch nemesis. Despite several attempts by Barker to run Mills out, the pair survived to the end of the innings, giving Dedication an easy 8 wicket win.
