Hope was recruited as a member of Dedication's inaugural Willowfest squad in 2005. His comments and description of his own cricketing skill lead many to believe that he would be a force to be reckoned with, both with bat and ball. Unfortunately, like most English cricketers, Hope was unable to live up to the hype on Australian soil, and had a disaster of an initial tournament, scoring 4 ducks in 5 games.
After a second attempt not much better than his first, Chris Hope left Dedication to form his own team in 2007. Nobody is quite sure how, but it seems he pulled some cricketing skill from somewhere, and took 5/14 against Dedication. Even worse, he was selected in the Lencia XI.
Hope's team, however, lacked the Dedication to return to the tournament, and folded after just one year. After many years of begging to be let back in to Dedication, Hope was given a second chance in Willowfest 2010, but unfortunately his performance for Dedication was again found lacking.
